I grew up Catholic , although I’m no longer involved in religion. I have no great opposition to the church despite its numerous errors , and have only warm memories of church life and being an altarboy back in the days of the old Latin Mass. But we were taught to tell the truth at all times. In other words not to tell lies to suit a purpose.Conservative Christians , including Catholics , have no qualms whatsoever about falsifying statemants about homosexual persons , despite the cascade of deleterious effects like violence and bloodshed.To pick up on something another commenter said …..’they’ try to explain how the Bible is literally true except what they cherry pick. Our level of tolerance for idoelogical sewage disguised as religious belief is inexcusable. I am way past caring about their acceptance, but their tolerance under the law ; I demand.

Of course there is room for gay people, but there is no room for same-sex marriage or for same-sex procreation or Postgenderism or Transhumanism or other genetic engineering technologies.

Conservatism must include “bioconservatism” and must affirm the natural right of all people to procreate using their own unmodified genes, with their spouse’s unmodified genes, and reject therefore the use of modified or artificial gametes to enable people to procreate with someone of their same sex or to improve or transform their genes.

Maggot Gallagher says same sex couples can’t be considered as marriageable. It’s not a conservative value. She got pregnant out of wedlock, refused to marry the kid’s father and ten or eleven years later found some other man to marry and that’s a conservative value. Thanks but no thanks. I’ll take civil marriage and Maggot can shove her conservative values where the sun don’t shine, assuming she can get through all of the blubber.

The point about divorce is a good one. In fact, I’ve used it in several fora. In my experience, Catholics immediately shut up, while non-Catholic Christians rev up the spin machine and try to explain why the Bible is literally true except on divorce.
