if the Catholic Church had taken this kind of hard line on the issue of priests molesting children, they wouldnt have to pay out more than a billion dollars in lawsuits – and even now the scandals keep coming!

We should really consider removing the Catholic & Mormon Churches tax exempt status. I for one am sick of them constantly butting into politics and holding back equality in this country. Unfortunately, the unenlightened Pope Benedict is spreading his hardline conservative doctrine of misery throughout the world, not just in the United States. If the Catholic Church wants to play hardball with the Washington DC City Council and the LGBT Community, I say let them go, if nothing else it should reduce any negative influence they have in the nations capitol.

So the Catholic Church would rather end its city contract to provide foster care and adoption services for D.C. residents than comply with rules requiring that it place children with same-sex couples? How does that hymn go again? Oh, yes: “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love; yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.” Also, I’m still waiting for an answer as to how the Catholic Church can make its peace with remarriage after divorce, but not with same-sex marriage.
