I find it interesting the wide area clear around Lt. Choi and Capt. Pietrangelo.

Usually the cops would converge on that type of activity pretty quickly.

Were the officers told he was coming and allow him to make his statement (especially since he announced his intentions way in advance of walking over)?

I also think the Park Police have something to answer for in stripping his insignia. They are not a military branch or senior officer and have no jurisdiction to make that move. Someone did that to humiliate the Lt. and should be reprimanded or fired for over stepping his authority.

As I recall, the last time I heard anything from politically sophisticated Attey he was attacking marriage equality efforts in DC. As Oscar Levant once said, “Out of the mouths of babes comes oatmeal.” This month marks the 35th anniversary of the first gay servicemember to out himself to fight the ban, Leonard Matlovich. Dan wasn’t even born yet but grew up in a world, entered a military academy & service just as bigotted as when Leonard and so many others in between such as Joe Zuniga were kicked to the curb. Were he still living, where would Leonard have been last Thurs? Chained next to Dan and Jim. Come on down! The Freedom’s fine.
