Indeed, Remnick’s version of the 2008 election is “de-gayed” as is Tom Brokaw’s “Boom”, the story of the baby boomers…and on and on. Wittingly or unwittingly, there is a seemingly unshakeable tradition of whitewashing us from history. And Charles is saying enough is enough. It is 2010 and it is time for a reality check. We are an integral part of history, despite the best efforts of some authors, editors and publishers to tell a different story.
