This really does sound like a baby step toward ending discrimination with DADT repeal. If the military can stall things until they complete their delay tactic study, they will never decide to end the discrimination, and of course, the default to the old policy just allows the military to discharge gay & lesbian service members without reference to DADT, so what is accomplished without language that spells out this will no longer happen?
My advice to gay & lesbian service members, stay in the closet until they really end the military's discrimination. My advice to Gay & Lesbian people who aren't currently serving, don't inlist at all. Why should gay & lesbian people risk their lives and shed their blood for bigoted people who don't want them anyway.

This compromise is the best current path to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation in our military this year. Critical votes are happening TODAY (Thursday, 5/27/2010) in Congress. We all have our own individual opinions about strategy, but NONE of that matters right now.

What matters is that we all call Congress TODAY, THIS MORNING, at 202-224-3121. Ask to be connected to your Senators and Representative, and urge them to vote to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Votes are happening TODAY. Call Congress NOW at 202-224-3121 and tell them to REPEAL DON’T ASK DON’T TELL.

We can re-debate strategy LATER -- but we must call Congress NOW. 202-224-3121.
