Brian is correct that a trip back to Ehrlich's Maryland would be a disaster for the LGBT community and will set us back at least another 4 years.

But the governor who showed the most support for equality was not O'Malley but Gov. Parris Glendening. He used his dwindling political capital to lead(that's right lead)the effort to get an anti-discrimination law passed in 2001. He is the true champion.

Really, Blade, my favorite paper for LGBT news? GLBTQ Marylanders would rather have Bob Ehrlich? Really? Would backward Bob even speak to gay donors? Gov. O'Malley is open to hearing from us. He's not perfect, but there are very few elected officials anywhere who are. At least Gov. O'Malley's administration has shown support for LGBTQ constituents.

There is a race in Maryland, and bizarre commentary like this has no chance of helping the GLBTQ community. Has-been Bob should be defeated by Gov. O'malley, who has shown more support for equality than any Maryland governor before him.

Outing people who are themselves NOT elected officials is reprehensible. Shame on you, Kevin Naff. You have no right. Moreover, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. The Governor had nothing to do with the gay marriage case and did not *betray* the plaintiffs.

Governor O'Malley supports the Attorney General's opinion that the State must recognize out-of-state gay marriages. He has stated that he would sign a gay marriage bill when it is passed by the Legislature. He implemented domestic partner benefits for State employees. He is a good and decent person who does not deserve your ill-informed vitriol. Save it for the man who vetoed every gay rights bill that crossed his desk. Save it for the man who is against gay partner hospital visition.

Oh, I'm sure O'Malley DID do his homework alright… He was well aware of the BACKLASH voiced at Attorney General Gansler, who deemed that same-sex marriages (as "civil-only" as any "civil unions") performed in other states would be recognized in Maryland. O'Malley is obviously differentiating his very malleable "beliefs" from that of Gansler. What a great guy, O'Malley, protect those rotting, cheating heterosexual "marriages" (if they can be called that).

Or, O'Malley could really, actually protect marriage, and protect ours as well. Of course, since he says that he is doing this because of his Catholic beliefs, then he is only following the commands of el papa, his Pope. And THAT man (ex-nazi-youth member) says that we are out to destroy civilization! Really... So O'Malley really IS only following orders. Uh… like a GOOD nazi??? I dunno, you decide…
