Now that you people who saved the Washington Blade have lived through a "life and death" situation, I think you are able to look at the glbt issues in a realistic way and set priorities.

But I hope that you will do better than the "regular media," which only covers our community/movement if there is something sexy-an outrageous claim o some celebrity suddenly "comes out," but has never given viewers, readers a comprehensive view of homosexuality and the community.

Such would involve only a brief history, which should put, finally, "Stonewall" in perspective, which may not make those who exploit it happy and gay, but will be the truth. That will help everyone have facts to use in mkikng decisiolns about how to deal with sexualityh, and how the movement has been so successful.

It is time to honor our libraries/archives which contain this history. This civil rights movement is better documented than any other, since it really started in 1950 and we know who and where and how it started, how it grew each decade, before the media discovered Stonewall, after after-many young people don't even know about Stonewall, but do know about MTV, The Real World tv show, Rachel, Ellen, Elton, etc.

And part of that history is Washington Blade, and you plan on putting this history online so that those who have not had the benefit of hearing you all these years will be able to glance at the timeline and see that we have made tremendous progress, and discuss what now needs to be done and how best to do it. And no one is the 'leader" and there can be several ways of working for the cause. That is our strength.
