No Lou, what this is about is our Constitution and whether or not people, for whatever reason, can vote, either directly or through representative democracy, on the rights of others. Is marriage for all a Constitutional Right? And that which would take into consideration the reality that gay people are part of the naturally occuring human condition.

Wrong, Lou. One great thing about America is that we have a Constitution that guarantees rights without requiring any majoritarian endorsement or approval of those rights. The rights of any given minority–be it a religious, racial, ideological, or political minority–are protected by the Constitution without regard to any competing majority’s endorsement.

Not that tired old non-argument again. How exactly will you be forced to do anything? If you don’t want to “endorse” same-sex marriage, I won’t invite you to mine; problem solved. Also, presuming to “know” other people’s inner lives better than they themselves know them is one of the most desperate debating tactics around.

If only this were really about gay marriage. But alas, it is not.

What it is about is the homosexual lobby forcing the majority of americans – that disapprove of homosexuality – to endorse their lifestyles. Thats the key – endorsement.

As if that will make it any easier for you to live with yourselves.
