hmmm…I would post my thoughts here but as it seems The Washington Blade (of all sources) deletes opposing views. Open forums aren’t encouraged it seems here. When queer papers censor, it truly isn’t a good sign.

Though the OP’s views were long winded, I in general agree with most of what he had to say. Mayor Fenty has been a huge let down on issue’s that affect the District of Columbia, not just the LGBT community. His super-sized ego has gotten in his way from day one and his tranparant government closed the shades and turned their attention to the issues in hand picked wards. His duties involve the entire city not just his favorite wards.

Alexa is sooo off base it is even funny. Fenty did nothing but sign the legislation and it is the job of the AG to defend DC laws. Gray, as chair, steered the legislation through the Council. He is NOT on the record of supporting a vote on gay marriage, this statement is complete garbage, but quite the opposite. Gray voted for the gay marriage legislation and has never swayed in his support for the gay community. Gray is not being supported by the religious right. You are so misinformed.

When was the last time you saw a story on Fox 5 or any other station about textbooks not being in the classroom, broken and flooded bathrooms, moldy ceilings, broken doors, etc?

Talk to any Gray supporters and they can tell you nothing other than we don’t like Fenty. They seem to think we had the number one school system in the country before Fenty took over. Gray has made references to Rhee not being black, and has implied that she won’t be around if he is mayor. But he won’t say this when the press is around when he isn’t East of the River.

Fenty often claims to, and gets credit for, accomplishing a ‘turn around’ in education for the District. The term means change in direction. The change in direction occurred well before he took office and test scores are just one small indicator. He should take credit for continuing what others started. No more.

Gray is getting money from the religious right to support a vote on marriage. THAT IS A LIE from the PIT!!!

Mr. Gray has always been for Gay Marriage as a basic human right.

Mr. Rosenstein, is described as a “writer”. Yet he writes an article which proves to be so windy and repetitive that there isn’t room to print it in said paper! And despite the length, can be refuted rather successfully in one or to short paragraphs in the above blogs. And despite the length, manages to omit relevant facts which would seriously effect the conclusions. Does this one sidedness reflect the very quality in Mayor Fenty which Mr. Rosenstein finds so unacceptable? So often, in reality, a Rosenstein evoked aspect of a Fenty mishandling of an issue can be matched with a corresponding aspect of the Fenty positive handling of the same issue. There are interesting points here, certainly, but they need to be developed and analyzed , not simply packed up and thrown at one like some kind of summer snowball.

@Alexa: You have your wires crossed. Vince Gray is on the record as saying he would fight against any effort whatsoever to overturn our marriage laws. He DOES NOT support having a referendum on marriage.
