We're in between a rock and a hard place here. We know what the repubs will bring, hell on earth, I think that's the scariest part of November, that there will be more Michelle Bachmann's(sp?) in congress responsible for making our laws. I for one, as a DC resident, am not trying to rush to get married but when I do, I would like the opportunity to be there. No, I don't think the Dems have moved fast enough on LGBT issues; but consider what they're dealing with. You have folks like Franken, Grayson, & Weiner who will call it like it is and are ready to vote on progressive issues. Then you have some cowards who want to talk a good game but don't actually do anything. Those are the folks whose office we should be sitting in. As much as we all don't want to do it, we need to stump for the Dems, if only at the very least to extend the opportunity to create legislative victories.

"Now you tell us, sorry we couldn’t do it but keep trusting us because the other party is worse." - Well yes, essentially. The other party is hell-bent on converting this country to a theocracy. What more reason do we need. How much more sell is required. The grass on the other side is much much worse, period. So let's get out there, get the Dems re-elected, and then hit the streets, change public opinion by being visible, stay on the Dems asses until we get something done. Don't get disheartened and fall back; what will that accomplish? Let's keep fighting and soon we will win the day!

Sorry for the typos. Here is my revised comment:

Very good article and points are well articulated. It does seem like our issues are on the back burner, which is disappointing. But I can’t find a path to get us at the top of the priority list when so many more needs on a national and international scale have to be addressed, such as jobs, the economy, deficit reduction, Afghanistan, the Iran threat, Middle East unrest, the fallout from the oil spill, health care reform and other such initiatives. Nonetheless, Congress should have been moving faster on ENDA and DADT repeal. I just don’t know if the President has the political capital anymore to push hard on our issues. It’s depressing.
