Steve — “Some professor” was Daniel Ellsberg, now know as a heroic figure, and he was not a professor. The “real problem” in Afghanistan and Iraq is/was invading foreign countries that present absolutely no threat to Americans, murdering their people, destroying their environments, and stealing their resources. There is no justification for these wars unless you grant that some lives are worth less than others. In that case, you had better hide.

We need to embrace Bradley Manning as an American Hero. All gay people, especially in the DC area, should contribute to his legal support and be a presence at Quantico (where he is being held). The only ‘traitors” and “murderers” in this story work for the Pentagon and its contractors. Mr. Manning is heroic.

Maybe what maning idd is what some professor did re the Pentagon Papers – which helped to end our biggest foreign policy debacle ever – the Vietnam war.

the real problem re Afghanistan was that we were so focused on a war to steal Iraqs oil for the cheney and Bush families fortuness and the rest of their pals

that we handed the Afghan war over to the northern Alliance. Instead of having enough people there to kill Bin Ladne when we hade him trapped in the tora bora mountains in 2002.

So 8 years later the war goes on. While George Bush and Dickboy chenye enjoy their billions, and our soldiers die.
