How about the fact that they’re doing the survey at all? It will without a doubt be used to justify maintaining Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, because “the troops aren’t ready for it.” In a community based entirely on top-down orders, the idea of asking the low men on the totem pole whether they agree is unheard-of. Furthermore, the Pentagon said they wanted to hear from partners of current gay/lesbian servicemembers – nevermind that in order to do that, they’d have to out themselves and, by extension, their partners who aren’t protected under any kind of new law or policy. Talk about ridiculous.
