ENDA should be priority number one….stupid!! DADT only helps a fraction of those that work for the military while the majority of us do not. These misguided priorities are squandering an opportunity to pass it that may not come along again for a very long time!!!

Before we get carried away with the repeal of DADT, we need to be proactive in getting Congress to revise the entire UCMJ to weed out all of the anti-gay provisions in it. SCOTUS is willing to give a lot of latitude to the military and if the UCMJ is not revised, we’ll get screwed. No pun intended.

Does Mr. Johnson never read reader comments, or does he just not care about repeating factual mistakes he’s made?

Yet again he asserts the amendment “would lead to repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” when the correct and CRUCIAL verb is “COULD lead to repeal.”

Would someone please remind him of Mark Twain’s wisdom:

“The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.”

And those claiming that Harry Reid is the only person to decide when DEFAUTH will be voted on forget the most powerful Democrat of all: Barack Obama.

First of all, I doubt that the Senate will repeal DADT, its more likely they will delay it until after the election when there are more Republicans and no chance for a repeal. Of course, a Federal Appeals Court just found DADT unconstitutional, but that can be reversed by a higher court in the end. I still think they made a mistake by focusing so much attention on repealing DADT when they should have passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and Domestic Partnership Benefits & Obligations Act first. Both ENDA and DPBO would have more impact for the overall LGBT community, whereas DADT just covers the LGBT people in the military. Now it looks like the Dems in Congress will fail to accomplish anything, and of course the rotten GOP will certainly oppose any of our bills once they gain more seats in the upcoming election. Basically, the Dems missed their opportunity or they played us, it just depends upon which Democratic member you are talking about.

It’s long past the time for the military to finally accept the fact that their Gay and Lesbian soldiers are some of the best, and rid themselves of this terrible policy of discrimination. Now we have to rid our government of the ‘Defense of Marriage Act’ to get them out of people’s bedrooms and personal lives!
