A little night music
Several big-name acts have concerts slated for the region this fall including gay fave Margaret Cho, the Indigo Girls in two variations and newly out country singer Chely Wright.
September
Of Montreal will be at the 9:30 Club with Janelle Monae Monday and Tuesday. Tickets are $25 each night and can be purchased at 930.com.
Sheryl Crow will be at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, in N. Bethesda on Sept. 29. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.

Brandi Carlile will be at Rams Head Live, 20 Market Place, Power Plant Live!, in Baltimore on Oct. 4 with Katie Herzig. Carlile’s third album, “Give Up the Ghost” offered new experiences including working with the likes of Elton John, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers multi-instrumentalist Benmont Tench, drummer Chad Smith and Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls. Tickets are $26 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
Paula Cole will be at Rams Head OnStage, 33 West St., in Annapolis on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. Cole has achieved mainstream success, winning the Grammy Award for “Best New Artist” in 1997, and garnering several platinum records. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
The Indigo Girls will be at the Birchmere, 3701 Mt. Vernon Ave., in Alexandria for two nights, Oct. 24 and 25, with Mount Moriah. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
On Oct. 29, Margaret Cho will be at the Warner Theatre, 513 13th St., with her show, “Cho Dependent” with special guest John Roberts. Tickets can be purchased at livenation.com.

La Roux, meaning “red-haired one” in French, will be at Rams Head Live, 20 Market Place, Power Plant Live!, in Baltimore on Nov. 7. The synth pop group consist of singer/songwriter Elly Jackson and keyboardist/producer Ben Langmaid. La Roux supported Lily Allen on her 2009 U.K. tour. That summer, the single “Bulletproof” debuted at number one a week before La Roux’s self-titled album was released. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
Recently out country artist Chely Wright will be at Rams Head OnStage, 33 West St., in Annapolis on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. Wright’s latest album, “Lifted Off the Ground,” was released the same day as her autobiography, “Like Me.” Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at her website, chely.com.
Amy Ray Band will be at the Sonar Club, 407 East Saratoga St., in Baltimore with Mount Moriah on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ARB is a solo project of Indigo Girls’s Amy Ray. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
