All of the politicians making comments ignore the elephant in the room. Religion.

A fat kid, a black kid, a kid who’s a Jew or catholic gets support at home if he’s bullied and he gets support from most of the public. The gay kid goes to a church or synagogue and listens to the Ass-in-charge rant on about damnation and hellfire that homo-sech-chuals are going to undergo and then hears his parents tell that Ass-in-charge what a wonderful sermon it was.
