Judah Swilley got it right when saying: "Leviticus says all kinds of crazy things..."

Why is it that Christians, who have genuine motivation to be good, defend those scriptures in the Bible that are clearly not good?

How is this any different than those acts that many criticize about other religions?

It is NOT good to stone others to death, to sell one's daughter, to own slaves, (and the list goes on). These are factually written in the Bible as condoned by God.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the Bible is a story with many positives, but containing some negaitves, that we must examine and avoid as intelligent members of society.

Jim Swilley and his family certainly are brave. Here in the Bible Belt Deep South it is professional suicide to make such an announcement.

I have been out all of my life but I am still cautious about who I take into my confidence. I cannot imagine the consequences for our family business were I to make a public announcement such as they have done.

My partner of 30 years and I live only a few miles from Church In The Now - just down the road really. I wish Jim the very best for his future and that of his family.
