OK, so the Congress repealed "Don't Ask; Don't Tell" regarding Gays in the military, which essentially means Republican-acting gays with a serious-minded military-bearing can serve openly. It does not mean all Gays can serve, just like all heterosexuals can not serve. A Code of Conduct will remain in place. Given that, does this mean ROTC can be on university campuses, again? Is it time to end that discrimination too ?

That's not an intelligent view. Having DADT overturned in the court system isn't what anyone wanted as a first choice, even the people who brought the lawsuit in the first place. You do realize that order is a necessary thing in the military right? This was the preferred way for repeal to occur. It IS a major victory for us.

Maybe you are, but I'm still angry over the continuation of the Bush tax cuts to the wealthiest millionaires and billionaires -- which will shoot another $900 BILLION hole into the federal budget.

Millionaires and billionaires DO NOT DESERVE a tax cut. And on my blog, I have called for legal action to strike down the Bush tax-cut extension for the super-rich, on the grounds that they continue to unfairly place the tax burden on the rapidly-disappearing middle class, who cannot afford to bear that burden any longer, what with unemployment, a freeze in their wages and ever-soaring energy and health-care costs.

Nonsense. The DADT repeal measure contains a 60-day deadline for the military to end DADT from the moment President Obama signs it. He can couple his signature on the bill with an executive order to the Pentagon to immediately halt all pending discharge cases (Something he frankly should have done weeks ago, as he has the full constitutional authority as commander-in-chief to do so).

With the impending repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," only one federal anti-gay domino remains standing: The 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. With the new, republican-controlled House unlikely to pass a DOMA repeal measure, it's going to take a Supreme Court ruling declaring DOMA, California's Proposition 8 and all other state laws banning same-gender marriage unconstitutional before LGBT Americans will finally have full legal equality.

With Perry v. Schwarznegger, the federal legal challenge to California's Proposition 8 now pending in Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the Supreme Court will rule on the federal and state bans on same-gender marriage by June 2012, when the court ends its 2011-12 term -- just in time for Pride and for the two major parties' presidential nominating conventions.

NO,NO,NO,NO! This isn't a victory for defeating DADT! If this bill passes it will bypass a Supreme Court Vote on it that could end the discrimination immediately! It also gives the Pentagon an indefinite timeline for implementation for the policy because it allows the Pentagon the authority to implement the policy on it's timeline under the conditions that it feels that it right to do so based on when it feels that it would be accepted by military personnel. NOT THE AMERICAN VOTING PUBLIC. Congress just stripped gays of confronting this in front of the Supreme Court and gave the military an indefinite timeline to stall this. This isn't a victory for gay people! It's a major setback and anyone within the gay community that doesn't recognize this is naive!!! Ask yourselves, What has this really accomplished?!!!! Congress just circumsized any true justice that could have been concretely beaten through the Supreme Court.

What?? Per Senator Gillibrand, "This is about equal rights, equal justice"… What?! Very nice of you to say, thank you, so eloquent -- but -- but my question is: HOW MANY YEARS UNTIL THERE IS COMPLETE EQUAL RIGHTS & JUSTICE FOR LGBT PEOPLE?!?!?! ONE? TWO? FIVE? TEN? THIRTY?! I'm sorry, but without having FULL equality under the law, your pretty words are simply window dressing, a flowery bouquet, a myth, a lie (without complete action). It's nice that maybe YOU might think that, but obviously the DEMOCRATIC PARTY DOESN'T SEE THE NECESSITY OF GRANTING FULL RIGHTS AND JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW. THEY DO NOT. They do NOT. Do the courts need to hold your feet to the fire for EVERYTHING??? That's not leadership. As Lieberman says, this bill passing is FOLLOWING society (and the rest of the world). It is not to be confused with leadership. It is not leadership. We need LEADERS.
