To think that Allan Kittleman would be against civil rights is to truly not know the man. I know Senator Kittleman personally, and I can assure you that the reasons he has for calling it "civil union" versus "marriage" are very real. It has nothing to do with being separate and unequal, it has to do with giving the same respect to people who hold the religious context of the word dear, as he gives respect to his goal of true and total equality for ALL people under the law.

To say anything less of Sen. Kittleman is to simply not understand what he's trying to do. Please talk to him before passing judgment in this way.

Maryland political leaders love to tell us how liberal they are, despite what the state's history has to say. Maryland voters should pressure those leaders to stop telling us and start showing us.

Then again, in fairness, you should go into detail on Kittleman's reasons for calling for a civil-unions bill.

As someone who worked for the current Sen. Kittleman, I can assure you that his heart is in the right place. He has the most pro gay rights record of anyone in his caucus. Before passing judgement I encourage you to contact him and hear him out for yourself.
