Unfortunately with the House under GOP control, ENDA won't even get a fair up and down vote. One the GOP has no integrity and two their right-wing christian base it against it and demands obstruction!

The GOP platform specifically is against gay rights. Further, when Bush was President, the GOP claimed they couldn't pass the legislation because it was unconstitutional. A Bullshit excuse as they claim that since gay people aren't protected specifically by the Constitution, you can't pass laws to protect them. Well neither are the disabled but we passed a law against discriminating against them! The transgender inclusion gives the GOP ammunition to raise hysterics and a visceral discomfort with them to further derail the legislation.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid failed us by refusing to allow ENDA a vote while the Dems were in power. Now we may have to waste another generation or more before this bill has a real chance of passage. Such a waste. It's hard not to be bitter.

I think ENDA could pass in the Senate if they change the rules to prevent the filibuster from holding up the legislation. It might be able to get 51 votes and pass the Senate, but of course, the Republican controlled House will never allow it to pass, and I don't think we can count on Obama to push hard for it either.
