This is great news, of course. But I had to wince when the Lt. Governor referred to our sexual orientation as a "preference" towards the end of his comments pertaining to DADT.

Human rights up for a vote at the ballot box as if gay and lesbian Americans were children, pets or mentally disabled and need others to make decisions for them. It's obnoxious!

Until people stop thinking it's their right to vote on another person's freedoms, we are no better than China, Cuba or any other oppressive nation that violates human rights! The US has alot of nerve wagging it's finger at other nations for their human rights records when they allow people to vote on others rights here!

Good for the Lt. Governor, he is on the right side. As for that obnoxious self-hating queen, (Bishop Harry Jackson) at least this time he is causing the fuss in his own state this time. It figures he would get involved in Maryland after unsuccessfully butting into DC's business. I hope the Lt. Governor of Maryland is correct about the voters in Maryland being supportive of same-sex marriage, because the rotten NOM crowd will surely get the measure on the ballot via referendum. At this point, we should all be getting ready to combat their lies, which should be the same dribble they peddled in Maine & California. Hopefully, years of experience with same-sex marriage in several states has proven that the sky won't be falling anytime soon as a result of gay & lesbian people being allowed to get married.

I have a much more succinct response to Bishop Jackson: All available evidence disagrees.

Oh, wait. Did I just suggest that evidence had any bearing on Bishop Jackson's pet obsession? I sometimes crack myself up.

Why do we keep referring to these as same-sex marriage bills? Take the bite out of it and call them marriage equality bills. It's harder for someone to argue equality that way. Just my two cents.

While it is great that MD's Lt Gov has evolved in his support for marriage equality -- we should not forget that until yesterday, his official view on the issue was "I was raised to believe that marriage is between a man and a woman". He reiterated this view in public interviews on multiple ocassions since he became a candidate for Lt Gov. Too bad it took a high ranking Republican's heartfelt commitment to equality to pry Anthony out of the closet.
