This was a refreshing article. Years ago I was one of the three initial partners in a GLBT business adventure (with another man and one woman) and we intentionally discussed and based our business in Maryland at that time. The company has since moved to Washington State. At no time was basing the business in WDC a serious option. We wish that it had been, but the business environment at that time was equally unfriendly as it seems to continue to be today.

And economic empowerment is a key part of having and being able to enjoy all of our rights. This is not separate from the movement for marriage, adoption, and open work rights (such as in the military), but is a core part of enjoying our freedoms and choices.
