[In the '70s, a Boston group distributed business-size cards that read, "You have just been helped by a gay person."]

It reminds me of a great symbolic act in San Francisco in 2003 that also represented that gays are ALSO Americans. When it was reported that the Supreme Court had reversed themselves and overturned sodomy laws, the giant rainbow flag at the corner of 17th & Castro was lowered and replaced for a few hours by a giant American flag.

It is not a gay story, though, and the article even mentions that “everybody’s shedding their identifying characteristics. That should be the point of the story.
