No, of course not but it's also rude to bury your guest duet partner into glorified backing vocals. Aretha has a history of doing this with her female duet partners but not male. Interesting.

So Aretha is suppose to be in the background on her own song? Is this what you are saying? Please, Joey its clear you have a problem with Aretha why would you even do a review on her? I do not care for Beyonce you do not see me giving a review on her new song do you?...

Wow what a review! This album is far from Aretha's worst LP's while I agree there are moments that I could have lived without as well as there should have been a new photo shoot done since she has dropped weight. Clearly the reviewer is waiting for the 1967 Aretha to come but the day is past and gone. To say that this CD is "all-over-the-map sonic mess" is ridiculous!! Aretha has never been the artist to sing one genre of music. This CD contains some very great songs. "When Two Become One","New Day", "You Can't See Me" and "Put It Back Together Again" are great songs and she's in great voice on them swooping and soaring. But then you again your probably one of those people who think Aretha only did something good after she left Columbia Records..SMH...

I have to agree...I was looking foward to the duet she did with Karen Clark Sheard. Aretha hardly let Karen sing any of this song...instead Aretha filled the song with so much over-laps of her vocals on leads and then so many added on adlibs from her. It would have been so much better if she sang a verse and then Karen sang a verse and so on. It was like she ask Karen to join her on the song but never really allowed her to sing. She did keep her low key in the background and every now and then let her chime in. The song seemed to crowded with all the extra add ins that Aretha did. Makes me wonder if she didnt want to be out-song by KCS. I am sure Karen was stilled humbled that Aretha asked her even if she only sang here and way over there...
