Gay Men’s Chorus hosts ‘Express’ benefit
The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington presents “The Orient Express,” its annual fundraiser and spring gala on Saturday at the Grand Hyatt Washington (1000 H St., N.W.).
This year’s show will feature live and silent auctions, dinner and live entertainment from the members of the Chorus.
There will also be the presentation of the 2011 Harmony Award, to be given to former Chorus board member, Greg Kubiak. A fund-raiser, leader and advocate for the Chorus, Kubiak served as board chair from 2006 to 2008.
He chaired the Chorus’s 25th anniversary celebration, creating the first comprehensive history of the Chorus. He also brokered a deal with George Washington University’s Gellman library to create an official academic archive, adding the organization’s papers to the prestigious LGBT collection of the University and ensuring their long-term and proper care.
There will be an exclusive sponsor reception at 5:30 p.m. Guest registration begins at 6 p.m.
An individual ticket is $150. To see about sponsor level tickets and benefits, contact the Chorus’ office at 202-293-1548.
