Holliday to replace Rowland at Capital Pride

By on June 1, 2011

The Capital Pride Committee announced today that Jennifer Holliday will be the main stage headliner at this year’s event. Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland was previously announced but had to cancel because she’s shooting “X Factor” in Europe.

The Committee says they’re thrilled to have Holliday, best known for her Tony-winning Broadway role in “Dreamgirls.”

“We couldn’t be happier to have Jennifer Holliday join us on the main stage,” said Michael Lutz, executive director of Capital Pride. “She’s a musical legend and long-time LGBT supporter. We’re honored and lucky to have her celebrate Pride with us.”

Holliday also performs this weekend with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington.

“Kelly looked forward to the performance and wishes everyone a happy Pride,” said Scott Lusk, communications chair for Capital Pride.

They should invite LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett to perform in her place.
