I would have used it as a building opportunity between me and by brother; to understand where he was coming from and to make clear to him where I was coming from. I would have been disappointed, but I would have tried my darndest to make the best of an unfortunate situation, and tried as best I could to maintain and hopefully expand the relationship between you and your nephews/nieces. I fear that you are the one who lost the most, by allowing your brother to disappear down the Metro escalator without having had a plan in place on where to take matters, including the relationship with your brother, and next steps.
