Don’t be a sissy, peoples feeling get hurt by many things in this world. Should we make all those things wrong too? Like getting cut from a team in high school, great example Micheal Jordan he got cut, yeah his feeling were hurt but it made him stronger. life is not about what makes you feel good, its about striving to be the best person you can be. Children these days are babied into life and when they finally get older they fall apart. Experiencing a small trauma as a kid helps to build up the child’s ability to cope with the real trials in this life. everyone has their sissy moments and its ok to say it out loud, we all need to be challenged so we can truly live!

I think we have gone a bit too far. Any time a word is considere “offensive” to a party, an apology is necessary? I want an apology from Weiner! He used the word “package” refering to his man stuff and I work for UPS, I’m offended!!!

Ok, I think this is just a little to much….are we THAT sensitive? Please. The context he used it was NOT in any way derogatory toward gays. Honestly, sometimes we’re our own worse enemy.

I don’t know what planet Knight is living on for not realizing “sissy” is a euphemism for gay man. Yet I doubt he meant it as a reference towards one’s sexual orientation. It was plain carelessness. Lately, sports commentators have been trying to get around that quandry by using the expression “man up”.

OK, so if any LBGT youth are bullied with the term ‘wimps’ or ‘crybabies’ no one can use those words either? I understand the power of words to demean. Indeed, my first words to my husband 34 years ago were ‘So, what about womankind?’ As a staunch progressive and feminist and friend of the LBGT community, I say, we will lose the war if we continue to fight battles over every new word that is used to put us down. To continue to do so sets us up to to increasingly wider ridicule on the issue of political correctness. I would say it makes us look silly, but, wait, have women, LBGT persons, or people of ethnic racial minorities been put down as ‘silly?’ If so, I can’t use that either. Where will it end? When do we stop letting others control and define us? Some words have historical and real meanings that we cannot abide. Can we coalesce around a few and draw the line?
