Hit gay-themed Peruvian play at DC-JCC

A gay-themed play that a hit in its native Peru is getting its U.S. premiere in an English-language production at the D.C. Jewish Community Center next week.

“Gay: Accept Me if you Love Me,” a production of Spotlight Comunicaciones, tells the story of a Republican senator and father who’s married to a woman but has a gay lover on the side. It will be performed at the Goldman Theatre (1529 16th Street, N.W.) starting Thursday through the end of the month.

Featuring a cast of 22 mostly local actors, the production is a benefit for the Trevor Project, Whitman-Walker and PFLAG. Performances are Thursdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m. with a 4 p.m. matinee on weekend days. Tickets are $45.
