The article is correct. There was a missing seat, and whoever filled it would have added one seat to either side.

Those robocalls are the exact kind of fodder that conservatives use that will also undermine their fight before the Supreme Court. Those robocalls are evidence that their legislative attempts to outlaw gay marriage are NOT rooted in promoting a benefit for all of society, but are instead part of the animus they have towards the gay community. Keep it up conservatives! You’re helping us gays win the eventual fight before the Supreme Court!

There were 25 Democrats and 24 Republicans. A Republican win would have meant 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans.

It was to my understanding that with the loss of Liz Mathis it would be a 26-24 majority for the Republicans and as it stands with her Victory its a tie? That doesn’t coincide with your second paragraph.
