I too support the notion of a government that lives within its means, doesn’t engage in Bolshevik behavior, and also one that doesn’t engage in neo-fascist behavior. That’s why I’m a Democrat — the best bulwark against totalitarianism in our country today! Beyond that, it’s the Republicans who refuse to have a government living within its means by trying to “starve the beast” (their own words) and trying to subsidize the ultra-rich by disproportionately taxing the poor and middle classes. Guy, when you moved from New York to Northern Virginia, you didn’t move far enough — you’d feel more at home in some backward town in Alabama.

If I lived in Fairfax, I would proudly vote for Mr. Forrest. He is a man of integrity and intelligence, and America needs more leaders like him. As for this “news article”, it is poorly written, poorly edited, and like all 20+ years career politicians, should be tossed out.

It makes me sad to read people so quickly throw aside all that Janet has done for our community. I am the first to vote for gay candidates where I can, but to vote out such an outspoken supporter, especially in a state that is less than friendly to our kind, is short sighted and only helping the opposition do more harm to us. Senator Howell is an amazing person and the only politician that I’ve ever met that I’ve ever felt was trying to make life better for everyone, not just some specific base of supporters that waive cash at her. Thank you Tiffany for speaking out, even if people see only what they want to believe.

I’m a NYC transplant to Northern VA. I support the notion of a government that lives within its means, doesn’t engage in Bolshevik-inspired attacks on citizens based on wealth and I also believe in the value of fresh blood replacing career politicians who get too comfortable in their sinecures. I proudly cast my vote for Patrick Forrest.

Harvey Milk once said that it doesn’t matter how supportive a straight candidate is. If there is a chance to elect a gay or lesbian candidate, we should do it and we should do so proudly!

Ms. Joslyn falsely claims the Victory Fund has “attacked” Sen. Howell. It has never done so, never mentioned the senator’s name in any of its materials or e-mails supporting Patrick Forrest’s candidacy, and it has accused her of nothing. (In fact, the only person who has ever confirmed the senator herself mentioned Forrest’s sexual orientation is her colleague, State Sen. Ms. Joslyn admits a Democratic operative working in Sen. Howell’s district encouraged voters to rethink their support of Forrest because he is openly gay. While some may be willing to excuse that sort of gay-baiting behavior over issues of party loyalty, the Victory Fund, a non-partisan organization, does not.

Patrick Forrest is more than qualified to serve in the Virginia Senate, and the Victory Fund believes his service along with that of Adam Ebbin could change politics in Richmond and serve LGBT Virginians well.
