A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs.

This definition of the word bigot comes from Wikipedia, and it fits Frank well.

Frank thought of the ordinary constituents in his district, especially those who did not share his political views, as “pieces of furniture” who were beneath him.

In the gay community Frank may be a canonized saint, but to voters here in MA he was a very poor representative.
