While the families of heterosexual servicemembers are rightfully cared and provided for in thanks for the tremendous sacrificies they go through for this nation, gay and lesbian servicemembers are denied the ability to even provide basic health care to their long-term committed partners or spouses, let alone the numerous other benefits their straight counterparts are provided. There is no more obvious display of disrespect to gay and lesbian servicemembers than the way their families are treated.
