If your faith keeps you from doing your job fairly, you need to find another job. Religion has NO place in politics and if you want your religious beliefs to be the law, move to a country that allows that kind of crap.

@Peter Rosenstein: Peter, since you support gay marriage (and, as a gay man, I support civil unions) would you support polygamous unions, as well? I know I’m posing a hypothetical, but it’s happening now in Utah where a proposal to legalize polygamous marriages is before the state’s legislature based on the equal protection clause (EPC). If I recall correctly, the EPC is the basis for most GLBTers support for gay marriage rights.

Maybe we should get Arora together with the Indiana Senator who is now complaining about the girl scouts as being against his faith. Aside from that being totally absurd these guys have absolutely no understanding of the separation of church and state and they are both young. Thankfully most of the younger generation understands that love knows no bounds and that there is a clear separation of civil marriage from religion. A big thanks to Senator Manno (D-District-19) for voting right and for trying to get a colleague to understand that his vote is for his contituents and not a vote on his personal religious beliefs.

I am so tired of hearing the “faith” excuse as a reason to not support gay marriage. Plenty of faiths have NO issue with gay marriage and perform them regularly. You could make an equally compelling argument that these discriminating anti-gay marriage laws infringe on many others’ faiths. What it really boils down to is some conservative nutcases can’t stand to live in a world where they can’t impose their faith on everyone else.
