I for one feel sorry and am concerned for the new president…as there are certain board of directors and senior staff that have been with HRC since Jesus was in short pants and the Dead Sea was just sick.
Does Chad Griffin think that he really has a fighting chance with the likes of David Smith, Cathy Nelson, Bruce Bastain, Terry Bean, Chris Speron, and Deiadra Burns? Because one Mr. Griffin starts to push back I see him going the way of Cheryl Jacques…but then again HRC was smart enough to learn from that scandal.
Yes, there is institutional knowledge at HRC…but there is much more old school entrenchment. I guess I am wondering when the Board of Directors is going to start putting a cap on length of employment. Let me be clear that I am not suggesting that HRC be like the Peace Corps…but come on the Board of Directors have to know that there comes a time when certain people are just stagnate no matter how many title changes they go through!

People need to get over the myth that black-tie = rich, gay white male. The fact is that the vast majority of attendees are regular Joe’s and Jane’s, who will pick up their child(ren) from the babysitter after the Gala, do their weekend chores, and regrettably, go back to work come Monday. The Dinners are attended by men and women, gay and straight, members of various political parties (or none), various religious denominations, and a huge outpouring of corporate supporters .

The Gala dinners are all planned and executed by volunteers in those specific cities. It is insulting to people like me, who give of my time, when misinformed people spew out garbage when they clearly have no idea what they’re talking about.

It’s good he has an agenda targeting gay youths, but let’s not forget the needs of all gays no matter their ago. We are resourceful enough and possess the resources to help youths and seniors at the same time.

Chad Griffin may well be the best thing that has happened to HRC in years. I look forward to seeing him move on the issues he is talking about. Having young people as his motivation is great and he will also need to motivate those youth to political action as they grow and mature in the safe world that we all hope to build for them.

Lets hope this guy really means business, because I am also tired of seeing HRC suck up to the rich among the LGBT community at those black tie affairs they mentioned, and I want to see HRC hold Democrats accountable when they don’t deliver. We should have seen ENDA passes years ago when Obama and the Dems had big majorities in Congress, but stalled our legislation until it was too late and the damn Republicans came back to power in the House. Hopefully, Chad Griffin understands this situation and will work to remedy things at HRC.
