The Rainbow Club, an LGBT group from CCBC-Essex, is hosting a drag event called “Drag-U-Cation!” It will take place on May 9 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the J Lecture Hall on the CCBC-Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Blvd, in Rosedale, Md.

Jessica Wild from RuPaul’s Drag Race will be on hand with local drag performers Miss Gay Maryland 2009 Sue Nami, Anita Minett and Anastasia.

“This event is great for people to attend because not only will it be a drag show but the audience is given the chance to ask the performers questions and really understand the world of drag,” Shane Messick, a leader of the Rainbow Club and organizer of Drag-U-Cation, told the Blade. Messick will also emcee the event.

Tickets are $5 for regular seats and $7 for VIP (first 3 rows) with half of all proceeds to be donated to (AMFAR) for HIV/AIDS research. Tickets are available by contacting the CCBC-Essex box office at 443-840-2787. There is no guarantee tickets will be available at the door.
