DeGeneres wins Mark Twain Prize

WASHINGTON — Comic and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will receive the Kennedy Center’s coveted Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The “Finding Nemo” star, who married actress Portia de Rossi in 2008, is the 50th recipient of the prize, which has previously been given to Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, and Lily Tomlin, and celebrates the tradition of Twain’s observational humor, according to the Washington Post. The prize will be presented on Oct. 22.
