A meeting to highlight the strategy to retain marriage equality rights in the state will be held on Wednesday, May 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way in Columbia. The meeting will be hosted by several local PFLAG chapters.

Its purpose is to delineate a strategy that will help defeat an expected November ballot referendum to overturn the law that allows same-sex couples to marry in Maryland. Opponents are two-thirds of the way toward gathering the required number of signatures for the referendum.

On hand will be state legislators, leadership from Marylanders for Marriage Equality and Equality Maryland.
