Why? Because they're not fools either, and they know perfectly well that after what we saw with ENDA in the 111th Congress any org that tries to contend that anything that helps LGBTs is getting a vote this year will be laughed at by the bulk of the community which has now learned the truth: Anything Democrats promise us is bullshit, unless we pony up huge piles of cold hard cash first, just like they sold off civil rights to the highest bidder, the super-wealthy-marriage-focused HRC crowd, in New York.

It's especially true because one of those orgs, HRC, totally gave away the store by endorsing Obama early (in exchange for a hearing on DOMA repeal and some supportive comments from powerful Democrats...in other words, for a handful of non-magic beans), guaranteeing that we and our right to work would the thrown under the bus again during this election season.

It's time to stop believing lies and fairy tales and start working to run candidates for office who will actually do what they say instead of just what's most convenient for them and most profitable for the Democratic Party.

I have to say I really hate the type of article, below, appearing in the Blade. By telling us that that there is no hope for moving an LGBT agenda for the rest of the year, the 'movement' lowers our expectations, saps our hopes, and provides excuses for continued delay while we wait and wait for our equality.

Every legislator, especially those with expiring terms, ought to say to themselves, "You know, I might not be here next year. So let me do whatever I can TODAY to make the world a better, more humane, more equal place." Instead, with a quarter of a Congressional Session left, we're ready to give up the ghost.

We ought to be jumping up an down, and demanding that our groups agree on a strategies to push push push, before we potentially lose even more ground in the upcoming election. And we ought to be reminding our electeds that we too will vote in November, and will hold them accountable regardless of the letter behind their name.

If I were an incoming ED of a national organization I'd ask for the resignation of any communications person who let it be known that the organization isn't expecting movement on its key bills for the next six months. Unacceptable. His job is to CREATE the expectation of movement.

It won't happen. It never happens. These people just lie and lie, and hope we won't remember the lies they told us during the last election, and the one before that, and the one before that...Think I'm wrong? Show me some proof, ANY proof, that these people intend to protect our civil rights instead of just spewing inclusive-sounding platitudes at election time.

What these people do in regard to our basic civil rights isn't anything that can be called "legislating". The proper word for it is "electioneering". They play on our desire to be treated as equals when they need our votes and support but forget all about us once they're in power and they don't need us anymore.

When will we stop believing that liars will suddenly stop lying the same lies they've been lying for a generation and start looking for real leaders to replace the liars? It's the only way anything will ever change. In the real world, what we're doing is called "enabling" their casual dishonesty and it's high time we stopped doing it.
