That is primarily a characteristic of those elected in the 21st century. Yes, there really was a time — and not all that long ago — that (some) Republicans had social consciences. Of course, most of them have been forced out of the GOP.

Also, very likely Cong. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen does not need anybody’s money to hold on to her seat.

Ros-Lehtinen “answered”: Well I support him because of his views on the business issues and the economy. There are a lot of issues in which I disagree with Mitt Romney, but there are a lot of issues in which I disagree with members of my family. But I love them all the same.

I hope if a vote to repeal DOMA ever comes up she understands what she is voting on. She clearly has a hard time deciphering questions. Is there a “yes” or “no” in there somewhere?
