I think you’re forgetting the ownership of National Harbor that has not only its own gambiling agenda, but a political one as well and huge financial resources that it will no doubt bring to bear in turning out conservative voters.

What if the tables were turned? Expecting the entire legislative world to grind to a halt on other issues because of the possible negative ramifications for marriage equality in Maryland due to an increased voter turnout – in a presidential election year, no less, REALLY? – only amplifies fear that we may lose. Yes, “waging an all-out fight to preserve the marriage law is simply the right thing to do” and O’Malley should make the effort. But not with us being so arrogant to say that nothing else matters until that is done.
