Dining Out For Life seeks volunteers
On Sept. 20, Moveable Feast will hold its 19th annual Dining Out For Life event on Sept. 20. For this day, participating restaurants will donate at least 20 percent of the bill to Moveable Feast.
Volunteers are needed as restaurant ambassadors. These ambassadors will be paired with a restaurant and will have two main tasks: (1) filling the selected restaurant by inviting friends and family to dine out and (2) greeting diners.
“Anyone can volunteer,” said Elana Kanter, events coordinator for Moveable Feast. “If you love dining out and volunteering for a great cause, then you are a fantastic fit to be a Restaurant Ambassador.”
The ambassadors will be stationed at one of the participating restaurants and would be on duty Thursday, Sept. 20, during lunch or dinnertime, depending on preference/availability. “We will work with you to ensure you are paired with a restaurant that you favor and is convenient for you,” said Kanter.
Moveable Feast is a Baltimore-based non-profit organization that provides nutritious foods and other services to Marylanders to preserve quality of life for people with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Offering healthful meals at no cost to affected persons and their families allows them to focus on their health and overcome their life-threatening diseases. Moveable Feast’s staff and volunteers have daily face-to-face contact with clients, which improves their quality of life by giving them attention and moral support that they often don’t receive anywhere else.
