More than 100 coalition partners for marriage

By on August 30, 2012

Marylanders for Marriage Equality announced that more than 100 organizations – which represent thousands of Marylanders from all walks of life – have signed on to preserve the state’s marriage law.

“We’ve been pounding the pavement and our work is paying off,” said David Turley, coalition director for Marylanders for Marriage Equality. “Our momentum is growing as we build a homegrown and diverse base of support. Partner organizations are integral in mobilizing their members and getting the message out that voting for Question 6 is about treating people equally.”

The nonpartisan League of Women Voters is one of the many partners focused on electoral participation and issue advocacy.

“Given our mission of equality, our consensus study enables us to support marriage equality,” said Sally Grant, Maryland state board marriage equality representative for the League of Women Voters. “There’s also the added bonus that it looks like equality supporters are going to prevail.”

Other partners include the Maryland Black Family Alliance, 1199 SEIU, ACLU of Maryland, and Young Democrats of Maryland. A list of partners can be found here.
