THANK YOU President Obama, Vice-President Biden, DHS Secretary Napolitano, Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.), and all other members of Congress who helped push this through. Sadly, no elected member of Congress of either party from West Virginia was a part of this.

I’m happy to see that Secretary Napolitano wanted to use language that included long-term same-sex “partners,” not just “spouses”. This measure still doesn’t help me and my partner who are separated by country, but it’s a very positive step that’s an indication that the President continues to take steps to honor his commitment to the LGBT community. I hope the separated couples and exiles will hear thrilling news soon!
