Heather sponsored and worked on major fundraising events for Question 6. She traveled throughout the state speaking in support of candidates and Question 6. I'd like to know which state legislators "did far more." I think that it would have been more accurate to say that many of Maryland's legislators who said they supported the bill did far less! We saw Heather Mizeur and Anne Kaiser and Rich Madaleno step up.

With her leadership on fracking, and her past success in working with members of both parties re expansion of coverage of family planning services, I don't see how anyone could objectively characterize Del. Mizeur's work as as negatively as PTM has done. She is known in the legislature as a hard worker who gets things done. And we are lucky that she is working for us. It's time we support the women who are helping to move the state in the right direction!

When deciding where to spend time and $$ to advance lgbt rights, we need candidates & electeds to do more than cast a vote of "present" and show up for press events. Very shortly, it sounds like Heather Mizeur is going to want support for her candidacy for Governor of MD. Candid remarks from the Campaign Manager for the MD Marriage referendum suggest that when all hands were needed on deck to do the unglamorous work of the ballot initiative -- Mizeur had other places to be.

“Del. Mizeur helped raise some money for the campaign, but wasn’t closely involved,” Levin said. “She helped with a few events, but others did far more and her attention was clearly more focused on other priorities, including a potential statewide run.”

We should insist that lgbt candidates be held to the same standards that we hold non-lgbt candidates when they seek our support.
