My partner and I live in a state where gay marriage is legal, yet we do not receive any federal benefits. As just one example, our spousal health benefits are taxed, unlike straight couples. But there are many more examples. It is as if we are being served with an additional tax for being gay.

While having more states legalize same-sex marriage is important, we cannot lose site of the fact that DOMA has to go.
