I have to agree sadly, gay issues with always divide a majority of American's because most want to remain ignorant or follow religious stupidity I mean ideology. It a huge issue people forget just because, it might be illegal to have or show anti-gay bias on a state level doesn't mean that people still don't have an issue showing how homophobic they are in a white collar conservative religious area. When you can still go out in public and be denied service for being openly, gay or people are talking loudly next to insulting you assuming that you don't hear them or they bash you going in or out of a business I'm pretty sure homophobia is a huge issue. Homophobia kills it's the biggest social issue to plague us so far.
