There are a number of people who make GLAA’s work possible, including my fellow officers and our members and supporters. As to energy, lately I’ve been wondering where it went; but periodically something outrageous happens that motivates me. My Christmas wish is that we get Frank Kameny’s ashes buried. As for 2013, here’s to making our city do a better job of living up to the fine words it put on paper, especially where its transgender citizens are concerned. And please support the DC Center as it prepares to move into its new space at the Reeves Center. So much for all of us to do!

Rick Rosendall and that merry band at GLAA continue to be tireless champions for all of us.

As Ward 5′s LGBT population grew– and whenever it needed a helping hand, Rick has always been there. Rick Rosendall has been extraordinarily generous to activists and just plain, concerned citizens– both with his time and his personal encouragement. And I know many of us will continue to be informed by Rick’s strategic thinking AND his savvy political tactics.

Then there’s the mystery of… and personal example set by Rick Rosendall’s sheer energy. Consider the number of his appearances before the Council, radio programs and news media, civic meetings and seminars, his time spent on the GLAA Forum blog, conducting GLAA’s candidate surveys, ETCETERA, ETCETERA! (Would someone pls swipe Rosendall’s vitamin list and sneak it to the media!?!)

Is there a LGBT activist in this city who has done more than Rick Rosendall?

Butler must know he’s got a very tough act to follow. So let’s congratulate and wish him well, too. But with Rosendall at the helm of GLAA, we can rest easy that he’ll have rock solid, proven experience to lean upon if needed.

Congrats! And rock on, GLAA!
