We are the most religious nation in the west and were the second to last to end slavery and the only one to need a war to do so. All justified by conservative religion.

If you don't like the idea of gay marriage don't have one. Though many opposed to gay equality are simply trying to hide their own self hatred driven by conservative religious groups.
