Sad to see such stalwarts of gay social life and night life disappear. Omega was a fun place to play pool, watch Desperate Housewives, music videos and porn on the TVs, ogle dancers, take your shirt off, conversse with patrons and bartenders, and have a decent drink, etc. For those of us still living west of 17th Street and Dupont Circle, it was a convenient, comfortable hang-out. I am sorry to see it go, but property transactions, expiring leases, shifting demographics and tastes, and technology and societal trends, spell change and progress, oftentimes for the better, and sometimes regrettable. I hope all those who were employed at Omega find employment elsewhere.

what a cop out. If gay bars didn’t smell like dirty mop water, had disgusting beer, shitty drinks and the worst music on the planet, maybe young people would frequent them. As it is, since you can make out with your bf in dance clubs with real DJs, what the fuck is the point of these gay bars now? The people who run gay bars in this city are too old and disconnected. It’s funny how the internet exists for straight people and yet I don’t see everyone moaning about the end of straight bars. Have any of you been to NYC? nice variety of bars and lounges there, places that are actually COOL.
