I love Susan Westenhoefer both professionally and as a friend, but Susan was not the first lesbian comic on television. She has seen me perform last year, and in the show (comedic history of the lgbt movement) I played a clip of my performance recorded at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles in 1979 and shown on Showtime in 1980,in which I performed as an open lesbian on the First Annual Funny Woman's Show hosted by Phyllis Diller. This was 11 years prior to Susan appearing on Sally Jessy Raphael. I know that Lea Delaria tries to claim she was the first out lesbian comic on television. Please, don't try to change history. I was the first gay or lesbian to actually come out (and use it as material) in performance (1972) on record (1978) and television (1980). I still love you Suzanne, so hope you clear this up.
